Start the Black UTC 70 on the Tiemco 2499SP-BL and bind a thin strip of Black 2MM Thin Foam along the shank back to the bend as a binder. Leave the thread hanging at the bend on the far side of the point.
Pierce the body strip of foam down its centerline and slide it onto the hook so it hangs under the shank. Nick a second hole in the foam where the eye will land and push the eye through it.
Brush Zap A Gap down the middle of the foam along the shank and a little under it, staying off the foam edges. Fold the foam straight back over the shank, line it up, and pinch it tight with the tail angled upward for several seconds, re-pinching any spots you missed.
Segment the body: a loose wrap at the rear, pull tight, one more, then cross forward one turn and take a straight wrap; repeat once — two forward crosses, each followed by a perpendicular wrap.
Hold the tail foam at its upward angle and slice straight through it with a razor blade, then snip a small rearward taper on the butt.
Capture a Black Medium Round Rubberleg on the near side with an X in the first segment, move back to the second segment and take one perpendicular wrap. Repeat on the far side, then follow the X forward and lock the front legs with the perpendicular wrap.
Stack a clump of Deer Hair or Bleached Elk Hair so the tips are even, measure it to the length of the body and cut it a little longer. Lay it on the head, take a loose wrap and tighten to flare a small head and wing.
