Streamer · Largemouth Bass · Smallmouth Bass · Panfish · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Wide-gap popper/bass-bug hook (kinked or straight), #6 (2-8)
  • Thread White or to match 3/0

Materials

  • Foam or cork popper body Chartreuse/white or bass colors (1, pre-shaped)
  • Saddle hackle Grizzly/white saddle hackle (2-4 (tail))
  • Flash Pearl/holographic flash (few strands)
  • Rubber legs Barred rubber legs (1-2 pairs)
  • 3D eyes Yellow/red eyes (1 pair)
  • Superglue/UV resin Clear uv resin (to seat body)

How to tie it

  1. Lay a thread base over the rear half of the shank to give the body glue something to grip.
  2. Tie in a splayed tail of 2-4 saddle hackles about one shank long, with a few strands of flash each side.
  3. Wrap a short collar of palmered hackle in front of the tail so it flares and pushes water.
  4. Slot or seat the pre-shaped foam/cork body onto the shank over the thread base and lock it with superglue or UV resin, flat cupped face forward.
  5. Poke or tie a pair of rubber legs through each side of the body, splayed out.
  6. Glue a 3D eye to each side of the head, then whip finish behind the body and cement.
