Materials

  • Bead Copper tungsten bead
  • Shuck UTC Spooled Antron Yarn, gray brown
  • Rib UTC Ultra Wire, copper, small
  • Wing case Wapsi foam parachute post, white, small
  • Thorax Fulling Mill peacock herl

How to tie it

  1. Start the black thread right behind the bead and run it down to the barb.
  2. Split a short piece of gray brown Antron yarn into two thinner pieces, tie it in at the back as the shuck, trim and flare the tail a little.
  3. Bring the thread forward, giving the body a slight taper.
  4. Catch a small copper wire at the side next to the bead, tie it back, then rib it forward in even wraps and tie it off.
  5. Tie in a strip of the foam parachute post (thinned and flattened) behind the bead.
  6. Tie in a piece of peacock herl behind the bead, wrap a bushy thorax, tie off and trim the excess.
  7. Fold the foam over the top of the thorax, catch it with thread, whip finish behind the bead and trim the foam flush.
