Pinch the barb (Matt ties a size 8, 5x long streamer). Start the Hot pink 140 denier and take it back to the bend.
Tail, part one: two strands of crystal flash folded over to make four. Leave them long; trim to size later.
Tail, part two: pink hen feathers over the flash, long enough that a little flash shows beneath. A couple of wraps to seat them back and lying down. Don't snip the stems; bind them up the shank with loose wraps to keep lumps out of the body, straightening any that roll to the side.
Catch the Medium red wire in at the FRONT of the shank, for the same reason as the stems: it keeps the body smooth. Leave the thread up front.
Catch the Holographic Mylar tinsel (large) in up front too. Wrap it back to the tail and forward again, each turn in front of the last, no overlap, keeping it smooth. Tie off up front.
Counter-wrap the wire rib in even spaces, about six turns. Lay the wire forward, a few tight wraps over it, and helicopter it off; check for a sharp nub and bury it with a couple of wraps. Leave the thread at the back of the head.
Belly: a sparse pinch of White bucktail, lightly stacked. Flip the hook, cord the thread clockwise, and take two pinch wraps under the shank; check it sits on the bottom, secure, and snip the butts.
Wing: Chartreuse bucktail, a little more than the belly and not stacked, so the tips stay ragged. Length to about the middle of the tail, well past the bend. Cord the thread again, two or three tight wraps, then tight wraps forward before snipping the butts.
Build a big streamer head, thread up to the eye and back, burying the bucktail nubs. Whip finish toward the back of the head and add a big drop of UV resin.
