Classic Recipe

  • Hook Articulated shanks (3-5), 3/0-6/0
  • Thread Varies 1/0

Materials

  • Shanks Large articulated shanks (3-5 connected)
  • Body Bucktail, flash, and synthetic fibers (layered on each shank)
  • Tail Bucktail + flashabou (very long)
  • Head Large epoxy or UV resin (built up)
  • Eyes Largest available stick-on (1 pair)
  • Flash Flashabou (generous throughout)

How to tie it

  1. Connect 3-5 large articulated shanks
  2. Build tail section with bucktail and flash. Keep it flowing
  3. Layer materials on each shank: bucktail bottom, flash middle, darker bucktail top
  4. Build a massive head on the front shank with thread and resin
  5. Apply largest eyes available
  6. Coat head with UV resin or epoxy for durability
