Reference Recipe

  • Hook Articulated: trailer hook joined to front hook/shank, Rear #6-10, front #4-8
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Connection Braid or wire + beads (1 hinge)
  • Tail/body Rabbit strip (black, olive, or wine) (2 strips)
  • Flash Krystal Flash (Few strands)
  • Collar Schlappen or dubbing (1 feather)
  • Head Cone or bead (1, optional)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the rear hook, start thread, and tie in a rabbit strip at the bend, trailing a shank length past for the tail; add a few flash strands.
  2. Palmer a marabou or schlappen collar to fill the rear body; whip finish and cement.
  3. Join the rear hook to the front hook with braid or wire and 2-3 beads so the joint swims freely.
  4. On the front hook, tie a rabbit strip over the joint and wrap it forward, stroking the fur back each turn, to the 80% mark.
  5. Wrap a soft schlappen collar (or dub one) behind the eye and sweep the fibers back.
  6. Add a cone head if wanted, build a thread head, whip finish, and cement.
