Streamer · Trout · Steelhead · Salmon · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Articulated: trailer hook joined to front hook/shank, Rear #2-4, front 1/0-2
  • Thread Flesh/pink 140-210 denier

Materials

  • Connection Heavy braid or wire + beads (1 hinge)
  • Body/wing Flesh (cream/pink/tan) rabbit strips (2-3 strips)
  • Hot-spot collar Pink egg yarn or Estaz (Small pinch)
  • Head Cone or bead (1, optional)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the rear hook, start thread, and tie in a flesh rabbit strip at the bend, trailing a shank length past for a wiggling tail.
  2. Palmer a second rabbit strip forward as a collar to build a fat rear body; whip finish and cement.
  3. Connect the rear hook to the front hook or shank with heavy braid or wire so the joint hinges freely.
  4. On the front, tie in and wrap a flesh rabbit strip forward, stroking the fur back each turn, to the 80% mark.
  5. Dub a pink egg-yarn or Estaz hot-spot collar behind the eye.
  6. Add a cone or bead at the head for weight if wanted, build a thread head, whip finish, and cement.
