Classic Recipe
- Hook Barbless dry hook (Fulling Mill Grab Gape), 12-16
- Thread Yellow or tan 8/0 (70 denier)
Materials
- Body Pale yellow Ultra Dry Dub (pinch)
- Wings Tan Ultra Dry Yarn, layered, downwing (1)
- Post Hi-vis Ultra Dry Yarn (1)
- Hackle Natural gray/ginger CDC wrapped around post (1-2)
- Thorax/legs Pale yellow Ultra Dry Dub (pinch)
- Hot spot Red/orange at the head (optional) (small)
How to tie it
- Start thread and dub a pale yellow Ultra Dry body forward to the thorax for the little yellow stone silhouette.
- Tie in layered tan Ultra Dry Yarn as a low caddis/stonefly-style downwing over the body.
- Erect a hi-vis Ultra Dry Yarn post and tie in CDC around its base.
- Wrap the CDC parachute-style for a high-floating footprint.
- Dub a pale yellow thorax to suggest legs, adding a small red/orange hot spot at the head if desired.
- Whip finish and cement lightly.
