Classic Recipe
- Hook Barbless dry hook (Fulling Mill Grab Gape), 14-18
- Thread Pale yellow or tan 8/0 (70 denier)
Materials
- Tail Coq de Leon fibers (1 small bunch)
- Body PMD/pale yellow Ultra Dry Dub (pinch)
- Wings Pale gray/dun Ultra Dry Yarn, layered (1)
- Post Hi-vis Ultra Dry Yarn (1)
- Hackle Natural gray/dun CDC wrapped around post (1-2)
- Thorax/legs PMD Ultra Dry Dub (pinch)
How to tie it
- Start thread and tie in Coq de Leon fibers as a split tail about one shank length.
- Dub a slim PMD-colored Ultra Dry body forward to the thorax.
- Tie in layered pale dun Ultra Dry Yarn wings and erect a hi-vis Ultra Dry Yarn post.
- Wrap CDC parachute-style around the post base for a high-floating footprint.
- Dub a PMD thorax around the post to suggest legs.
- Whip finish and cement lightly; float only the wing and post.
