Tyer Recipe

  • Hook 1XL curved/standard nymph hook, 12-16
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold or copper tungsten bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Goose biots Brown goose biots (2 (tail))
  • Synthetic peacock dubbing Peacock/iridescent synthetic dubbing (body)
  • Wire rib Copper wire (optional, thin)
  • Hen hackle Brown hen hackle (1 (collar))
  • Goose biots White goose biots (2 (wings))

How to tie it

  1. Slide bead to the eye and start thread behind it, covering the front third of the shank.
  2. Tie in two brown goose biots at the bend as a split V tail about half a shank length long.
  3. Tie in a copper wire rib at the tail if used.
  4. Dub a tapered synthetic peacock body from the tail to just behind the bead.
  5. Counter-wrap the wire rib forward in open turns and tie off.
  6. Tie in a brown hen hackle by the tip and take two or three turns as a soft collar, then secure.
  7. Tie in two white goose biots over the top in a shallow V so they lie flat along the back to the hook point.
  8. Build a small thread head against the bead and whip finish.
