How to tie it
Slide the glass bead on and push it back out of the way; start the thread at the front behind the eye, keeping all wraps minimal. Bulk is the enemy on this fly.
Tie a very small section of white Fluoro Fibre on top just behind the eye with about four tight wraps, leaving roughly a sixteenth of an inch sticking forward as gills; trim the rear excess.
Whip finish working BACK over the material butts (not over thread-on-thread), cut the thread, and slide the bead forward over the covered butts to sit behind the gills.
Restart the thread behind the bead and paint the whole shank with an even layer of red thread. The thread is the underbody color.
Feed a short piece of x-small silver wire inside a section of clear micro tubing, then lash the tubing-plus-wire along the near side of the shank all the way back.
Return the thread to the front, then wrap the tubing forward in open spirals. The wire inside prints a silver rib over the translucent red body while the tubing armors the fly; tie off and trim.
Tie in a second small tuft of Fluoro Fibre behind the bead as an emerging wing bud.
Dub a tiny amount of Bloody Black Ice Dub behind the bead to suggest the legs/wing-pad area and cover the tie-downs.
Double whip finish against the back of the bead and cut the thread.
