Wrap 8-10 turns of 0.015 weight over the front half of the shank. Start the Brown thread, dam behind, run over the weight, dam in front, and take the thread back to the bend.
Take 10-12 long Flank feather fibers and bind them in as a Tail at least as long as the body. Use the butts to smooth the underbody between the tail and the weight.
Catch in the Wire rib, small, drawing it back so there is little excess, and smooth the underbody again with thread.
Wax the thread and dub a tapered body of Brown synthetic dubbing over the rear two-thirds, stopping short of the front to leave room for the thorax.
Even the ends of two Peacock herls and catch them in. Leave the thread hanging back toward the herl, then wrap the herls forward, pushing the thread ahead as you reach it so the herls do not spread. Make the Thorax just slightly thicker than the body, and leave a little room for the hackle.
Counter-wrap the rib forward over body and thorax, catch off with two tight wraps plus two or three more, hold tension on the thread, and helicopter the wire off.
Take a small Partridge side feather, grip it by the tip and sweep the fibers back to a V. Catch the tip in with the concave side toward the hook using two good wraps, fold the tip back, lock with two or three more, and snip the tip.
Wrap three turns of hackle with pliers, sweeping the fibers back as you go - partridge is brittle, so keep tension light. Back the thread off to meet the hackle, secure with two wraps, and snip the excess close.
Pull any wayward fibers back, take the thread to the eye and build the head with several rearward wraps; the fibers should lie soft against the body, not stand up.
