Tyer Recipe

Materials

  • moose body fibers (tail) Dark moose body hair (few fibers)
  • black beaver dubbing Black dubbing (body and thorax)
  • copper wire rib Copper wire (one strand)
  • moose body fibers (wingcase/legs) Dark wingcase strip (small bunch)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread behind the eye and wind to the bend.
  2. Tie in a few moose body fibers for a short tail, about half the shank.
  3. Tie in copper wire at the bend, then dub a slim black beaver abdomen over the rear two-thirds.
  4. Counter-wrap the copper wire forward as a rib and tie off.
  5. Tie in a bunch of moose fibers pointing forward, dub a fatter beaver thorax, then pull the moose fibers over as a wingcase and split the tips back as legs.
  6. Build a small head and whip finish.
