Terrestrial · Trout · Beginner · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Standard dry fly, 14-20
- Thread Black 8/0
Materials
- Body Black Superfine dubbing (Two segments)
- Hackle Black rooster (1, sparse at waist)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook, start thread, and dub a tight, glossy rear ball over the back third, stopping at the 40% mark.
- Leave a bare thread waist and tie in a black hackle by the stem at the midpoint.
- Take 2-3 turns of hackle at the waist only (sparse, just enough for a leggy footprint) and tie off.
- Dub a slightly smaller front ball (head) over the front third, keeping the waist pinched thin.
- Whip finish at the eye and snip.
