How to tie it
Start the GSP thread and work to the rear third of the shank.
Dub the rear abdomen bulb with tan superfine, building a distinct round ball. Make this rear bulb the biggest of the three, working the dubbing back and forth into a pyramid shape (use only a wisp of dubbing at a time; if a pinch floats when dropped, it's the right amount).
Tie in a length of gold metallic braid at the front of the rear bulb, leaving it long over the back; trim it later flush by bracing the scissor blade against the rear of the fly.
Dub a small middle bulb with the darker cinnamon-brown dubbing just in front, covering the braid tie-down. Keep this segment distinctly smaller.
Comb a clump of short, fine deer hair thoroughly to remove all underfur, then even the tips in a stacker.
Tie the deer hair in over the middle segment as a flat overwing, as long as or slightly longer than the braid underwing; trim the butts.
Tie a strand of small round rubber along each side for legs.
Dub the front bulb (head) with the lighter dubbing, larger than the middle but smaller than the rear.
Whip finish behind the eye and trim the legs to length.
