Wrap 0.015 weight wire over one-half to two-thirds of the shank, then dam it front and back with red thread and run wraps back to the bend.
Catch in the medium gold tinsel at the rear.
Wax the thread well and dub a 3-inch noodle of gray angora goat; wrap the rear half of the body, then dub a second noodle and continue to just short of the eye. The buggier the better.
Spiral the gold tinsel forward as a rib and tie it off.
Rough the body up with a Velcro dubbing brush to pull out fuzz; snip only the extreme long strays.
Tie in two pheasant aftershaft feathers together at the front (two gives more bulk and insurance since they're brittle).
Wrap both feathers together 3-4 turns (or until used up), stopping well short of the eye; secure but don't trim the tips yet.
Build a prominent red thread head. The big red head is part of the pattern.
Whip finish, then snip the feather tips off and add head cement or UV resin to the head.
