Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Classic Recipe

  • Hook Tiemco 3769 (1X-short, 2X-heavy nymph), 14-16
  • Thread Cream or tan UTC 70

Materials

  • Bead 3/32" gold bead (1)
  • Tail Ginger Lifeflex or Spanflex (2)
  • Body Hareline Light Cahill dubbing (pinch)
  • Rib Small copper wire (Brassie) (1)
  • Legs Ginger Lifeflex or Spanflex (2-4)
  • Casing Tan or ginger goose/turkey biots (1)
  • Thorax UV tan Ice Dub (pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a gold bead to the eye and start thread. Tie in small copper wire for the rib at the bend.
  2. Tie in two strands of ginger Lifeflex as a split tail about half a shank length.
  3. Dub a slim yellow-tan Light Cahill body forward to the 65% mark.
  4. Counter-rib with the copper wire in 4-5 open turns for segmentation and durability.
  5. Tie in a tan biot casing pointing rearward, then split ginger Lifeflex legs to each side of the thorax.
  6. Dub a UV tan Ice Dub thorax behind the bead for extra sparkle, pull the biot casing over the top, tie off, whip finish and cement.
