How to tie it
Slide the bead onto the hook, start the thread right behind the bead and take it back to the bend.
Tie in three pheasant tail fibers at the bend as the tails, about three-quarters the shank length, sitting on top.
Tie in small copper wire at the same point for the rib.
Tie in six peacock crystal flash fibers at the same point; they become the back strap, wing case and legs.
Wrap the thread forward over all three materials to the back of the bead, trim the excess, and take the thread back to the bend.
Wax fingers and thread and make a thin noodle of hare's mask dubbing; wrap touching turns forward with a slight taper to the thorax area, leaving the thorax unbuilt.
Pull the six crystal flash fibers forward over the abdomen as the back strap.
Palmer the copper wire up to the thorax area in about three to four turns, tie it off and break it off.
Bend the crystal flash back and build the thorax with the same hare's mask dubbing.
Pull the crystal flash over the thorax as the wing case.
Split the six flash pieces three to each side and pull them down and back for legs; secure with a couple of thread wraps right behind the bead, then trim, leaving the legs reaching back past the thorax.
Brush the legs back, wrap a small collar of super fine black dubbing, and whip finish.
