Reference Recipe

• Hook Saltwater flats hook (e.g. Gamakatsu SL12), 2-4
• Thread Tan Flat waxed nylon

Materials

• Eyes Lead/brass dumbbell or bead chain (one pair)
• Shell/body Tan or olive Flexo nylon tubing (~1.5 in section)
• Legs Tan micro ultra chenille (3-4 short pieces)
• Crab eyes Epoxy crustacean eyes (one pair on mono)

How to tie it

1. Mount the hook and lash dumbbell eyes on top near the eye so the fly rides hook-point-up.
2. Thread 3-4 short lengths of micro chenille through a section of Flexo tubing so they splay as legs.
3. Bind the tubing-and-legs bundle at the bend, flaring the shell over the hook.
4. Add a pair of epoxy crab eyes at the rear on a short mono stalk.
5. Build a small dubbing or chenille ball at the head to fill in behind the dumbbells.
6. Whip finish and trim the legs to length.
