Classic Recipe

  • Hook Salmon double or single, 6-10
  • Thread Red/orange 8/0

Materials

  • Tail Orange bucktail (sparse)
  • Butt Fluorescent red floss (small)
  • Body Black floss (rear half)
  • Rib Gold wire (spiral)
  • Body front Red dubbing (front half)
  • Wing Orange bucktail and golden pheasant tippet (sparse)
  • Hackle Orange hackle (2 turns)

How to tie it

  1. Mount hook, tie in tail
  2. Wrap red butt, then black body
  3. Wrap rib
  4. Dub red front body
  5. Tie in wing
  6. Wrap hackle collar
  7. Whip finish
