Reference Recipe

  • Hook Saltwater streamer hook, 1/0-4
  • Thread White 6/0 (140 denier)

Materials

  • Belly White bucktail (sparse clump)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (a few strands)
  • Back Chartreuse or olive bucktail (matching clump)
  • Eyes Silver stick-on (pair)
  • Head UV resin / epoxy (tapered coat)

How to tie it

  1. Mount a saltwater streamer hook and start thread at mid-shank.
  2. Tie a sparse clump of white bucktail at the throat as the belly, extending about 1.5 shank lengths.
  3. Add a few strands of pearl Flashabou over the belly.
  4. Stack a matching clump of chartreuse or olive bucktail on top for the back.
  5. Sweep everything to shape and build a smooth tapered thread head.
  6. Set stick-on eyes on each side and coat the head with UV resin or epoxy.
  7. Whip finish under the resin for a durable baitfish head.
