How to tie it
Put a 7/64 brown magic tungsten bead on a size 14 Daiichi 1760. That is a size larger than you would normally use on this hook, and it suits the heavier style of this fly.
Tie Uni-Stretch gills in up front with a couple of wraps in front of them to prop them up, which makes threading tippet through the eye far easier on the water. Whip finish, slide the bead back up and re-attach blue dun 70 denier behind it.
Tie small copper brown UTC wire in on the near side, run down a little and back to start the taper, then add brown holographic Flashabou and bind both together down into the bend just above the barb.
Slice anti-static bag into thin strips with a paper slicer and cut a slight point on the end for a tie-in. Catch a decent amount of it, not just the fine tip, or it will snap on you. Smooth and even the body out with thread, then whip finish the blue dun off and re-attach rusty brown.
Wrap the ASB forward without pulling too tight at first and without overlapping, in tight touching turns, stopping about half a bead short. Razor the tail off flush rather than cutting it so you do not build bulk at the thorax.
Rib forward with the wire in even turns, then follow with the Flashabou running tight alongside the wire for a couple of turns and trim. Coat the body with UV resin, which both protects the ASB, which is not durable, and makes the holographic rib pop.
Add a very sparse pinch of pheasant tail Ice Dub tight to the bead as a collar, whip finish and trim.
