As tied by LIFliesMike (stripped-down, no hot glue)

  • Hook Mustad C70SD big game, 2

Materials

  • Hackle White saddle hackle, curve out
  • Flash Pearl krystal flash
  • Body Tan medium estaz
  • Eyes 5/32 silver stick-on eyes
  • Adhesives Liquid fusion, superglue, medium UV resin

How to tie it

  1. Tie white saddle hackle feathers in for the tail, flipped so they are tied curve out; the feathers spring outward and flutter as the fly is stripped.
  2. Tie the feathers forward toward the hook eye, curve out to curve out, leaving a slight gap behind the eye.
  3. Apply liquid fusion to stiffen the section of hackle sticking off the back of the hook (about an inch) so it does not foul.
  4. Loop pearl Crystal Flash on.
  5. Tie in a second set of hackle feathers, curve out; the liquid fusion is still wet enough to work them in and they stiffen up.
  6. Tie in tan medium estaz with a very small amount of superglue and wrap it all the way forward, leaving a very slight gap behind the hook eye to tie off.
  7. Apply a very small amount of superglue and stick on the silver stick-on eyes (optional).
  8. Apply a small amount of medium UV resin to form the head, adjust with a bodkin if needed, and cure with the light.
  9. Clean up any stray estaz at the hook eye.
