How to tie it
Prepare white saddle hackle for the tail, breaking the feathers down so they are easy to work with, and prepare more hackle for the front sides.
Put a tiny amount of hot glue on the hook and press the first feather into it, curve out; wrap the thread back to about the hook point and cut the stem.
Run hot glue further along the shank and press the next feather in, curve out, to build a stiff spine to the fly.
Loop a couple of pieces of pearl Crystal Flash on and trim them shorter than the feathers so they do not foul.
Tie in crystal estaz (chartreuse here), run a little hot glue on the shank and wrap the estaz forward; tidy the area with thread.
Run a light line of hot glue along the side of the body back to the length of the spine, press a front feather into it curve out, flip the fly and repeat on the other side.
Wet the hackle fibres with a wet finger so they do not catch on the glue gun.
Run a bead of hot glue along the body back to the spine section and press lateral scale into it with a wet finger; flip and repeat. A dollop of glue at the back of the spine helps stop the scale coming off.
Whip finish the thread.
Glue stick-on eyes on with a little hot glue each side, with about a third to half of each eye on the body.
Build a head with hot glue that fully covers the eyes and meets the material behind them, then quench it in water to cool and gently press it smooth.
