Reference Recipe
- Hook Streamer/wet hook (e.g. Daiichi 2220), 6-10
- Thread Red 6/0 (140 denier)
Materials
- Tail Small silver Flashabou tubing (short tag end)
- Body Small silver Flashabou tubing (full body)
- Hackle Red saddle hackle (2-3 turns)
- Wing Natural mallard/duck flank (one slip over the back)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start red thread at the bend.
- Bind a length of silver Flashabou tubing, leaving a short tag at the bend as the tail.
- Wrap the tubing forward in touching turns to the 80% mark for a bright body and tie off.
- Tie in a red saddle hackle and take 2-3 turns as a swept-back throat/collar.
- Set a slip of mallard flank low over the back as the wing, tips reaching the tail.
- Build a small red head and whip finish; let the red thread show as a gill hot spot.
