Strip about 20 Green hackle fibers - roll them in your fingers if they bunch - and tie them in on top at the bend, a bit longer than a hook gap. Bury the butts; don't worry about fuzz, a fuzzy body is going over it.
Catch in the Small silver wire close to the front so it doesn't add a lump at the rear, and bind it back to the bend.
Split a four-strand Green yarn and use two strands. Tie them in at the front, wrap two layers over the front third, then wrap all the way down to the tail and back up so the body ends thicker at the front. Tie off.
Counter-wrap the silver wire forward in about six evenly spaced turns. Catch it off, lay the tag parallel to the shank, add a few wraps over it, and helicopter it off.
Pick a big Brown partridge feather with fibers reaching almost to the hook point. Tie it in by the thick end just behind the front, biting several wraps into the stem, then snip the stem.
Wrap the partridge two turns, three if the stem allows, catch it off with two wraps, and snip the excess.
Pull the fibers back and build a good-sized head - it's a big bug. Whip finish about four turns at the back of the head and add head cement.
