How to tie it
Lay a thread base from the eye to the bend.
Strip about 20 green hackle fibers (roll them in your fingers if they clump), and tie them in on top at the bend for a tail a bit longer than one hook gap.
Bind down the butts, then catch in the small silver wire near the front and wrap thread back over it to the bend to avoid a lump at the rear.
Split a four-strand green yarn and tie in two strands at the front of the shank.
Wrap two layers of yarn over the front third first, then wrap all the way down to the tail and back up, producing a body that's thicker at the front; tie off.
Counter-wrap the silver wire forward in about 6 evenly spaced turns; tie off, lay the wire tag parallel to the shank, add a few extra wraps, and helicopter it off.
Select a large brown partridge feather with fibers reaching nearly to the hook point, tie it in by the thick end just behind the front of the body, and snip the stem.
Wrap the partridge 2-3 turns, catch it off with two wraps, and snip the excess.
Pull the hackle fibers back, build a decent-sized head, whip finish with about four turns, and add head cement.
