How to tie it
Mash the barb and put a straight-eye hook in the vise (a Dai-Riki 310 in size 22 here). Start the thread on the shank, leaving a hook-eye length of space behind the eye.
Cover about a third of the shank, wrap back to the tie-in point, then forward another third and return again. This builds a thin, tapered body.
Give the bobbin a clockwise spin to cord the thread, then make touching wraps up the shank to add small segmentation to the tapered body.
Use the smallest amount of natural muskrat fur for the thorax and dub it on at the front.
Whip finish with four or five turns and cut the thread. Trim any over-long pieces of muskrat fur if you like.
