Tyer Recipe
- Hook standard dry fly hook, #16-#18
- Thread Pale yellow 8/0
Materials
- Stripped hackle quill Melon/pale amber (1, for body)
- Hackle fibers or Microfibetts Ginger/dun hackle fibers or microfibetts (for tail)
- Dry-fly hackle Light ginger dry fly hackle (1 feather)
- Wing (hackle tips or poly) Pale dun dry fly hackle (1 pair)
How to tie it
- Start thread and mount an upright wing at the one-third point behind the eye.
- Tie in a sparse tail of stiff fibers, about one hook-length long, at the bend.
- Tie in the stripped melon-colored quill at the rear and wrap it forward in touching turns to build a segmented body, stopping behind the wing.
- Tie in the hackle and wrap several turns behind and in front of the wing.
- Whip finish behind the eye.
