Hook Streamer hook, 2
Thread Tier's choice Standard
Materials
Round lead wire (weight) Red round lead wire (as needed)
Synthetic hair (tail and body, two tones) Dark top / light belly (several clumps)
Flashabou (lateral line and body) Tier's choice (a few strands)
Stick-on eyes Red eyes (1 pair)
How to tie it
Wrap some red round lead wire on the shank for weight and lay a thread base.
Roll and taper a clump of synthetic hair between your fingers and reverse-tie it in as the tail, keeping a clean taper.
Tie in a couple of strands of flashabou at the tail, then use the excess flashabou to wrap the body and tie it off.
Reverse-tie a darker clump of synthetic hair on top and a lighter clump on the belly, blending the top tone so it isn't too dark; keep every section tapered and sparse.
Pick out the fibers and check the profile before gluing, then trim to a baitfish shape.
Glue a red stick-on eye on each side, whip finish, and coat the head with cement or resin.
