Reference Recipe
- Hook standard dry front hook with hinged rear body, 10-12
- Thread blue 70 denier
Materials
- Wiggle body Blue macaw (dubbed/foam segment on mono loop, articulated)
- Eyes Black ostrich herl (small mono barbell)
- Wing Clear head cement (Zelon, spent)
- Thorax Blue macaw (superfine dubbing)
- Hackle Grizzly hackle (1 feather, trimmed flat below)
How to tie it
- Build the rear body first: dub or foam a slim blue segment on a short shank or mono loop and set it aside.
- Mount the front hook, start blue thread, and lash the rear body's mono loop at the bend so it hinges freely. The wiggle is the point.
- Figure-8 a set of mono eyes at the front of the shank.
- Tie in a spent Zelon wing splayed flat to each side.
- Dub a blue thorax around the eyes and wing.
- Wind 3-4 turns of grizzly hackle and trim it flat underneath.
- Whip finish at the eye.
