Tail Mixed brown and grizzly hackle fibers (1 bunch)
Body Gray muskrat or gray dry-fly dubbing (pinch)
Hackle Brown and grizzly, mixed (1 each)
How to tie it
Start thread behind the eye. Tie in a clump of white calf hair at the one-third point from the eye, divide into two upright wings and post them so they stand vertical and split.
Tie in a mixed bunch of brown and grizzly hackle fibers at the bend for a tail roughly one shank length long.
Dub a slim tapered body of gray muskrat forward to the wings, stopping at the 70% mark.
Tie in one brown and one grizzly hackle by the stems just behind the wings.
Wind both hackles together, taking a few turns behind the wings and a few in front for a full, buoyant collar.
Tie off the hackles, build a neat head, whip finish and cement.
