Reference Recipe
- Hook wet fly / 1XL, 12-16
- Thread gray 70 denier
Materials
- Tail Brown permanent marker (hen hackle fibers)
- Body Muskrat gray (superfine dubbing)
- Hackle Grizzly and brown hackle (soft hen, 1 each)
- Wing Gray flotation (matched duck-quill slips)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start thread at the bend.
- Tie in a short brown hen tail half a shank long.
- Dub a slim gray body to the 75% mark.
- Wind a soft grizzly and brown hen hackle 2-3 turns, then sweep the fibers back and down with thread pressure.
- Set matched gray duck-quill wing slips low over the body, tips to the bend.
- Build a small head and whip finish at the eye.
