How to tie it
Start black thread about an eye length behind the eye and wrap back to about the barb.
Place a grizzly and a brown hen hackle side by side and pull off a few fibers together so they are already mixed for the tail.
Tie in the tail about the length of the hook shank, with a pinch wrap, and trim the butts to where the body will end.
Wax the thread and dub a noodle of grey nymph dubbing, a dubbing that soaks up water.
Wrap the dubbing forward with a slight taper toward the eye.
Pull a few more fibers than the tail from the same two hackles for the throat, hold them underneath, and tie them in so they reach just past the hook point.
Turn the vise over and snip off the excess close.
Mount two grizzly hen hackle tips on top, concave sides together, reaching about halfway along the tail.
Pinch wrap to secure, then make two or three wraps forward over the stems, and trim the tips off close.
Take the thread behind the eye and back to cover the wing ends, then whip finish.
Coat the head with UV resin (Solarez).
