Trude Adams

• Hook dry fly, 12-16
• Thread gray 8/0

Materials

• tail hackle fibers Mixed brown and grizzly (small bunch)
• dubbing body Gray muskrat (thin)
• down-wing hair White calf tail (small bunch)
• hackle Brown and grizzly hackle (1 each)

How to tie it

1. Start the thread at mid-shank and tie in mixed brown and grizzly hackle fibers for a tail one shank-length long at the bend.
2. Dub a slim gray body forward to about two eye-lengths behind the eye.
3. Tie in a down-wing of white calf tail sloping back over the body (Trude style), tip reaching the tail; trim the butts.
4. Tie in one brown and one grizzly hackle just ahead of the wing.
5. Wrap both hackles together to form a collar, tie off and trim.
6. Whip finish.
