Reference Recipe

  • Hook standard dry fly, 10-16
  • Thread gray 70 denier

Materials

  • Tail Grizzly and brown hackle (mixed hackle fibers)
  • Body Adams gray (superfine dubbing)
  • Wing White uni stretch (calf tail, down-wing)
  • Hackle Grizzly and brown hackle (1 each)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread.
  2. Tie a mixed grizzly and brown tail one shank length long.
  3. Dub a slim gray body to the 70% mark.
  4. Stack a white calf-tail wing and tie it down-wing over the body reaching the bend, butts trimmed.
  5. Tie in grizzly and brown hackle at the front.
  6. Wind 4-5 turns and tie off, then whip finish at the eye.
