Reference Recipe
- Hook standard dry fly, 12-16
- Thread gray 70 denier
Materials
- Extended body Adams gray (dubbing or deer hair, detached)
- Tail Dun microfibetts (microfibetts (part of the body))
- Wing Grizzly hackle (2 hackle tips, upright divided)
- Hackle Grizzly and brown hackle (1 each)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start thread mid-shank.
- Form a detached gray body off the back of the hook with split-tail tips extending one shank length past the bend.
- Bind the extended body's butt at mid-shank so it angles slightly up.
- Tie in divided grizzly hackle-tip wings upright at the 65% mark.
- Tie in grizzly and brown hackle at the wing base.
- Wind 4-5 hackle turns fore and aft of the wing and tie off.
- Whip finish at the eye.
