Reference Recipe
- Hook standard dry fly, 12-18
- Thread gray 70 denier
Materials
- Trailing shuck Brown permanent marker (Zelon, sparse)
- Abdomen Brown-gray material (superfine dubbing)
- Wing Natural case (deer hair tuft, upright)
- Thorax Adams gray (superfine dubbing)
- Hackle Grizzly and brown hackle (1 each)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start thread at the bend.
- Tie in a sparse brown Zelon trailing shuck half a shank long.
- Dub a slim abdomen over the rear half, angled down into the bend to mimic a stuck emerger.
- Stack a short deer-hair wing and post it upright at the 65% mark.
- Tie in grizzly and brown hackle at the wing, then dub a gray thorax.
- Wind 3-4 hackle turns at the thorax and tie off.
- Whip finish at the eye.
