Reference Recipe
- Hook standard dry fly, 12-18
- Thread gray 70 denier
Materials
- Body Muskrat gray (superfine dubbing)
- Hackle Grizzly hackle (1 feather, palmered)
- Wing Natural case (deer or elk hair)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start gray thread at the bend.
- Tie in a grizzly hackle by the tip at the bend.
- Dub a slim gray body forward to the 75% mark.
- Palmer the hackle forward in 5-6 open turns and tie off.
- Stack a deer-hair wing and bind it as a down-wing tent reaching just past the bend, butts forward.
- Trim the butts to a short head and whip finish at the eye.
