How to tie it
Lay a thread base well around the bend of the hook. The body extends noticeably back.
Tie in the vinyl D-rib near the front with the flat side against the hook, and bind it down all the way back to the rear of the body.
Wax the thread and dub a noodle of the olive coyote-underfur blend; start with a wrap or two at the rear, then wrap a dubbed body forward with a slight taper if you can manage one.
Counter-wrap the D-rib forward in about 4 evenly spaced turns (round side out) and bind it down with tight wraps. The vinyl has some stretch, so it locks in well.
Smooth out the tie-down lump with thread so the head area stays clean.
Prepare a small partridge feather with a notched tie-in point, tie it in by the tip, and snip off the tip.
Wrap the partridge 2 turns with hackle pliers, catch it off with two wraps, and snip the butt.
Pull the hackle fibers back, build a modest nymph head, and whip finish.
