Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Partridge C streamer, #8 (10 for cutthroat)
  • Thread Orange Semperfli Classic Waxed

Materials

  • Rabbit flesh strip Two-tone white/pink (or cotton candy) (A couple of chunks (tail))
  • Flat braid Gold oval tinsel (1 long piece (body))
  • Baitfish Emulator Flash Peacock ice dub (12-15 strands (wing))
  • Head cement or UV resin (1 drop)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread and build an even base back to just short of the bend so the body material won't slip.
  2. Pull a couple of chunks of fibers off the two-tone rabbit flesh strip, keeping the tail as long as possible with both white and pink showing; tie in at the bend with a wrap behind the fibers as well.
  3. Run the thread forward, leaving a couple of hook-eye lengths of space for the wing and head.
  4. Tie in a long piece of gold flat braid and wrap it up the shank in touching turns, covering the whole body; tie off.
  5. Pull off a dozen to 15 strands of baitfish emulator flash and tie in on top as a wing reaching just to the back of the hook.
  6. Snip out any wayward strands, then build a neat orange thread head.
  7. Whip finish and coat the head with head cement or UV resin.
