Reference Recipe
- Hook standard dry fly, 12-16
- Thread tan 70 denier
Materials
- Body Tan/olive carapace (superfine dubbing)
- Overbody Tan carapace (thin foam strip)
- Wing Natural case (deer hair)
- Hackle Brown hackle (1 feather (optional))
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start tan thread.
- Dub a slim tan body from the bend to the 65% mark.
- Lay a thin tan foam strip over the back and bind it at the front for a high-floating shell.
- Stack a clump of deer hair and tie it as a down-wing tent reaching just past the bend.
- Optionally palmer 3-4 turns of brown hackle at the thorax for legs.
- Snip the wing butts to a short head and whip finish at the eye.
