How to tie it
Start the yellow thread and run it back to the hook barb. Make a two-tone foam strip by gluing the yellow 1 mm Razor Foam on top of the tan 2 mm foam, and cut a strip.
Trim the tip of the strip to a point, and size the strip to about the length of the whole hook. Centre it on top of the shank just ahead of the barb and bind it down with two snug wraps; it will want to spin, which can be corrected later.
Dub a thin noodle of yellow Super Fine dubbing underneath, a little past the halfway point of the shank.
Fold the foam forward over the dubbing and bind it down, then take the thread over the top all the way to the eye, leaving a little foam head. Crush the foam down to flatten a working area.
Tie in five or six strands of pearl Krystal Flash on top, then fold them over and wrap forward, then fold them again to the other side, leaving them sticking out the rear to the length of the wing.
Clean and stack a clump of bleached elk hair, tie it in on top with the tips aligned, and clip the butts to the length of the flattened section.
Tie in clear Sparkle Emerger Yarn the same way as the flash, folding it forward and back to make a V wing, and clip it to size.
Tie in the round rubber legs at the back and walk them forward on each side, then trim them so the front legs are shorter than the back ones.
Strip a grizzly hackle to suit the hook, tie it in at the back with an X-wrap and fold the stem down. Lay a little thin yellow dubbing over the area to wrap the hackle through.
Wind the hackle forward in tight turns, tie it off at the front, and clip the butt.
Shape the foam head the same way as the tail, whip finish over the front, and cut the thread.
