Reference Recipe
- Hook standard dry fly, 18-22
- Thread olive dun 70 denier / 8-0
Materials
- Shuck/tail Dun microfibetts (Zelon or split microfibetts)
- Body Olive-gray material (turkey biot or superfine dubbing)
- Wing Fluorescent (hi-vis) (short tuft of para post material)
- Collar Dun microfibetts (CDC clump)
- Hackle Grizzly dyed dun hackle (1 feather, trimmed flat below)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start thread.
- Tie a sparse dun shuck or split microfibett tail one shank length long.
- Wrap a slim olive-gray biot body forward to the 70% mark, shiny side out for segmentation.
- Tie in a short hi-vis wing tuft upright at the thorax so you can track the fly.
- Fold a dun CDC clump around the wing base for a low, buggy silhouette.
- Wind 2-3 turns of dun hackle at the thorax, then trim the bottom flat so the fly rides in the film.
- Whip finish at the eye.
