Materials

  • Gold bead Gold bead (1)
  • Goose biots Brown goose biots (2 for tail)
  • Copper wire Copper wire (rib)
  • Peacock herl Natural peacock herl (abdomen and thorax)
  • Hen hackle Brown hen hackle (1 for collar)
  • Mottled turkey Natural mottled turkey (wingcase)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the gold bead to the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie in two brown goose biots as a split tail at the bend and secure copper wire for the rib.
  3. Wrap a peacock herl abdomen forward to the 60% point, then counter-wrap the copper wire and tie off.
  4. Tie in a mottled turkey section for the wingcase over the thorax area.
  5. Wrap a peacock herl thorax up to the bead.
  6. Pull the turkey wingcase forward and tie down, then wrap a brown hen hackle collar behind the bead.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
